The helicopter Sikorsky H-34, originally dubbed S-58 by the company, is a combat-ready aircraft with a piston engine, designed by Sikorsky specifically for the United States Navy to tackle the threats posed by submarines in the anti-submarine warfare domain. Later transformed to run on turbine power by its British partner Westland under the name Wessex and later again modified as the S-58T by Sikorsky itself.
