Terra Sigillata is a term derived from Latin meaning "sealed earth" or "the earth's seal," used to define a specific type of bright red Roman ceramics often adorned with stamps. Its historical beginnings are found in Tuscany, Italy, specifically in Arezzo. This type of ceramics would go on to become the hallmark of the entire Roman Empire. The chronology of these productions spans from the 1st century BC to around mid-3rd century AD. It tends to be divided into three types of production by region of origin: Italian TS, Gallic TS, and Iberian TS. A fourth type could potentially be African TS productions with a later timeline and imitating earlier ones.
