Topography model of Sierra Nevada located in Granada, south of Spain. The highest peaks of the Cordillera are Mulhacen at 3480 meters, Veleta at 3393 meters, and Alcazaba at 3371 meters tall. These topographical features were extracted from LIDAR data that was downloaded directly from IGN's official website, a trusted Spanish agency. You can access their website by visiting ign.es and following the prompts to main index. The data itself is projected in UTM coordinates on a grid size of five meters per point. To convert this valuable topographical information into 3D printing ready STL files, we used DEMto3d software tool. This powerful software program has a user-friendly interface and allows for conversion from DEM formats to STL formats that can be immediately prepared for 3D printing purposes. In addition to DEMto3d being easily available at demto3d.com, it also supports two popular GIS programs called Kosmo, which is found online at opengis.es, and QGIS located at qgis.org.
