Human: Sierpinski's Tetrahedron calculated using OpenSCAD. Update Nov. 12, 2015 - Original parameters are outdated, now adjusted for a fractal level of five with thickness at point contact set to 0.5mm. Printer Settings Printer: Da Vinci 2.0 Duo Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Notes: This object is simple yet very fragile due to its low density. Level five fractals were challenging to print, and removal of supports caused several breakages. Using acetone as a bonding agent resolved this issue. STL files tetra[1-6] are scaled to 1mm for ease of use and created as is. Review OpenSCAD source for specifications regarding size and rotation angle. The printed version may not meet requirements due to size specifications; we recommend users adjust the thickd & thickr parameters in OpenSCAD for optimal results. To maintain structural integrity, you might prefer a normal rotation at (1) top corner. However, support removal from this position could damage the 'point contact' parts. Another possibility is rotating to (2) bottom corner with six simultaneous supports generated within OpenSCAD or (3) using three outer supports created by MeshMixer. Experimentation reveals that each approach has its challenges. A better method might be found if supports were optimized for the direction at (3), with proper design generated using tetra-nosup.scad and a successful print outcome achieved from tetra5-70_7d0_5revsup_fixed.stl as an example reference.
