For Artillery Sidewinder X1 / Evnovo Sidewinder X1 / SWX1 The sleek design of the Sidewinder comes at a cost – there are numerous reports of failed printed circuit boards, smoke, and charred ribbon cables due to the Extruder Assembly ribbon cable being gradually pulled out of its socket. This model takes the original design and adds two posts in front of the opening to thread the ribbon cable through to secure it firmly in place. This design boasts several advantages over other clamp designs: - No additional hardware (such as longer screws) is required. - It includes a small, convenient viewing port for quickly checking on the cable for peace of mind. - Other designs add weight with longer screws and additional clamps, whereas this integrated design reduces weight by 4 grams compared to the stock cover (PLA with 10% Gyroid infill). For cosmetic reasons, print in upright orientation as shown, with supports. This leaves the exterior clean by placing the supports on the inside. I used PLA with 10% Gyroid infill and 0.8 mm wall/top/bottom thickness. Installation: 1. Turn off the printer. 2. Move the extruder to the center. 3. Remove the existing cover & carefully unplug the ribbon cable. 4. Insert screws into the new cover. 5. Gently feed around 10 cm of cable through the posts exactly as shown in the photo, keeping plenty of slack around the posts. Avoid sharply bending the cable! 6. Gently plug the ribbon cable into the board. 7. Gently work the cover towards the board, aligning the screws, while helping excess cable feed out of the slot. Make sure the ribbon cable does not bend inside the cover but feeds straight out the slot! 8. After the cover is in position and screwed tight, you can gently work the slack out from between the posts. Done!
