Sidewinder case - door for access of mainboard and displaycable
thingiverse
I designed a new access route for the Sidewinder's mainboard and displayboard, replacing the standard grid with a removable door located on the right side of the printer when viewed from the front. This modification greatly simplifies the process of accessing these critical components: to update the firmware, users no longer need to open the entire case. The door is securely attached to the printer using velcro after removing the original grid. The result is a significant increase in ventilation when the door is opened, but it also provides extra protection against dust and accidental contact with fingers when the printer is turned off. Furthermore, this design allows users to easily monitor the status LEDs on the mainboard during printing operations. When flashing firmware on the Sidewinder X1, simply open the door while the printer is powered down, pull out the cable connected to the displayboard, plug in a USB cable to initiate the update process, and then reconnect the display connection cable when finished. Turn the printer back on to complete the process. This streamlined procedure eliminates the need to remove the entire bottom panel or adjust the printer's position after updating the firmware, making it possible to perform updates entirely within the printer's current location.
