Sidemount backplates (lumbar and dorsal)
thingiverse
I've recently started using a homemade sidemount rig for diving, which has led me to create my own backplates from scratch. After searching in vain for suitable plates or CAD files that could be used to make some locally cut ones, I decided to design and produce them myself in OpenSCAD. Initially, my plan was to mock up the plates in ABS and then have them cut out of stainless steel, but at 5mm thickness with 100% infill, these printed plates are surprisingly strong on their own. The design is likely to change as I continue experimenting with the harness configuration; for now, this setup works well enough. If you want to recreate the STL files from OpenSCAD, simply comment or uncomment the dorsal and lumbar module calls as needed - the plates are slightly too large to print both properly on a 200mm x 200mm bed, so I had to do them one at a time.
With this file you will be able to print Sidemount backplates (lumbar and dorsal) with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Sidemount backplates (lumbar and dorsal).
