side sword

This is my design for a side sword, the link between one-handed arming swords and rapiers. This build is similar to my previous sword, so please read on for instructions! To construct this print, we will need a wooden dowel (6mm diameter x 100mm length) for sword 2-1, as well as a nut and bolt (6mm diameter x 860mm long). The bolt should be embedded in the end of the tang. There is a distilled taper on the blade, so to put them together in the correct orientation, place the two faces together - if they fit flush with each other, they're in the right position; otherwise, it's either the wrong piece or the wrong side. To embed the bolt, check your software's preview for the tang. From there, you can see where the printer starts to fill up the top of the hole. When you've started the print, wait just before it reaches that point and pause the print so you can insert the bolt, then continue the print, securing it in place. Supports are needed for the guard, pommel, and sword pieces, but not for the tang itself, as it's designed to house an embedded piece. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
