Side Sink Mount

Side Sink Mount

While renovating our kitchen we needed a way to continue the use of our water filter, formerly used under the kitchen sink. We replaced our older plastic utility sink with an aluminum "stainless steel" sink and cabinet from Home Depot. I did not want to drill into the press board cabinet and to open spots for water to enter. This clamp mount was the final solution. If your sink it stainless you can add magnets inside the inner brace for additional support. The most significant feature was adding the 3mm inset in the top outer portion of the clamp. This allowed the unit to "clip" onto the side and prevent movement after being installed. The metal sink has a lip the extends beyond the wooden cabinet. The installation requires a little wiggling but it will give a satisfying "clunk" when it locks onto the side. I plan to adapt this design for a hanging soap dispenser on the other side of the sink by extending the deck and adding two triangular supports under the deck. This made it easier to remove the support in the indented area that creates the "clip" which snaps over the edge of our metal utility sink. Under the Top/Bottom settings, I made the "Bottom Thickness" 3mm. I printed it upside down and this provided a stronger deck to resist the many times the water facet is used. Our valve rotates horizontally. If yours is vertical you may want to increase the deck thickness further. How I Designed This Category: Household Supplies
