Side Mount Spool Holder With Bearings
myminifactory
This is a side-mounted spool holder with bearings for the Ender 3 line of printers. I created this to solve a few problems inherent in the design of the top-mounted spool holder. The first issue that this was designed to correct is the tendency for the filament to erode the arm on the extruder caused by the extreme approach angle the filament is fed from. I have relocated the holder to a lower side-mounted position allowing the filament to be fed in a straight path to the extruder. The side mount bracket also slides to provide a better filament changing experience for the user This design also incorporates 3d printed bearings (BBs required) to reduce the stress on the extruder motor and to facilitate smoother filament feeding and thus improving print quality. Additionally, I have also included tapered filament cones to enable different size spools to be utilized with this setup. Another optional feature of this system is an included thing created by Adriano Alfaro to prevent filament interference with the z screw. I hope you enjoy your new spool system and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.. -Thanks Notes: Please print 2 of eachBearingSpool Cone (2 options)*** All other parts only print once Bearing assembly requires .177 inch steel BBs about 75 total
