Characteristic features include planar sealing surfaces between the gate and seats, making these valves ideal for applications requiring unobstructed, straight-line flow with minimal resistance. Gate faces may be parallel or wedge-shaped; however, their primary purpose is to control liquid flow, albeit not for regulating it unless designed specifically for such use.
