Side Desk Headphone Mount
thingiverse
I was in desperate need to find a place to store my headphones when not using them at my desk, so I decided to take on a new challenge despite being relatively new to 3D modeling. This is my first multi-part model, and while it has its flaws, I'm proud of the effort I put into creating something functional. The measurements were tailored to fit my specific desk, but I've included the files in case you're able to modify them for your own use. It's not perfect by any means, but I was looking to push myself outside of my comfort zone and try something different. I normally rely on Adobe Illustrator to create vector images that I can import into 123D Design, but for this project, I took a more hands-on approach. By measuring my desk and the desired size of the headphone holder, I was able to start designing the hinge. Breaking it down into two parts, labeled "Hinge P1" and "Hinge P2," allowed me to create a functional hinge that would fit together smoothly while providing a snug friction fit. To address an issue with structural integrity, I designed the "Bottom Structure" component, which would absorb some of the weight of the headphones by pushing against the desk. This addition made the entire design more stable and durable. Despite being my most time-consuming project yet, I'm excited to see how it turns out and appreciate your feedback!
