A friend's 30+ year old Sidchrome tool set has been experiencing a serious issue with its socket set trays disintegrating over time. The old trays are shown above, no longer able to hold the tools securely in place. I designed these new trays to replace the old ones. Each side is made up of three parts and will easily fit on a printer like the Prusa MK3S. Printed in generic PLA, I used a fairly dense infill (25% cubic) as these need to be tough, with enough infill to support the dowel holes and the tools to be placed in them. Double check fitment into your tool box before gluing the dowels in, as one side was a very tight fit for us. They both fit as shown, but one was way tighter for some reason. You could possibly slice the files and use less material by lowering the overall height to just enough to cover the largest tool, but we wanted them to match as close as possible the original holders. The pictured print includes a 32mm socket on one side, which was a one-off mod for my friend. And the files posted here do not have the 32mm socket.
