Sickness at The Royal Academy, London
myminifactory
This sculpture is a study for one of the figures on Bacon's monument to Thomas Guy in Guy's Hospital Chapel, London. Unlike Thomas Banks, Bacon was not drawn to classical prototypes as a source of inspiration. The anguished face of Sickness is more lifelike than what Neo-classical ideals of noble simplicity would allow. John Bacon created this marble sculpture in 1778. This object is part of "Scan The World", a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory, where we're creating a digital collection of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from around the globe that the public can access for free.
