Shut The BOX Game, also called Blitz, Bakarat, Canoga, Klackers, Batten Down the Hatches, Kingoball, Trictrac, Cut Throat, Fork Your Neighbor, and Jackpot, is a game of dice that can be played with one or more players in groups of two to four for stakes. Players commonly use a counting box with tiles numbered 1 to 9, which are covered by hinged or sliding mechanisms, although the game can also be played with only a pair of dice, pen, and paper. Some versions use up to 10 or 12 tiles in the box. An alternative is using dominoes as tiles, which also offers the option to use six dice if a Double 18 domino set is used. Dominoes can be substituted for the game's tiles, and if so desired, a complete conventional Western deck with jokers (54 cards) can provide for up to nine dice. The rules describe how the tiles or dominoes can be replaced by dice if desired. Players begin by clearing all levers or tiles, showing numbers 1 to 9. On their turn, a player throws the die or dice into the box and calculates the sum of remaining tile(s) after adding up pips on the dice. If this total is six or lower, they roll only one die. Otherwise, the player must throw both dice. Following each roll, players shut or close any combination of open numbers that equals the number of dots showing on the dice by combining their sets to reach the required total, then rolls again and continues until all possible combinations have been eliminated or further throwing becomes impossible. Players keep rolling until reaching a point where the next throw cannot produce a new closed combination. After throwing one last time, they calculate their score by summing the remaining open numbers if those open are two, three, five, seven, eight, and ten then add them up and subtract that sum from their overall tally. The winner of this particular turn gets to pass the game forward in sequence with another player whose lowest tally so far takes over the role as player in succession. As for complete information, when numbers 2, 3, and five remain open at last throwing stage, any throws excepting only 2, 3, five can terminate play while others not counting ten lead toward success since this game's rule specifically points towards the closure of every set as the definitive result in every player round where no chance is ever given. After that turn a shut box gets claimed which brings a fast-paced win ending early because total tile value cannot increase beyond possible winning conditions due nature built in mechanism design for fair outcome guarantee.
