Shrine Base, Glasgow Cathedral
sketchfab
These ancient arches once supported a sacred tomb or shrine in the early medieval church that is now an integral part of Glasgow Cathedral's rich history. It's possible they were connected to the revered shrine of St Kentigern, the pioneering bishop who served within the ancient British kingdom of Strathclyde before his passing in 614 AD. Arched structures like this one were often employed to encase holy relics, allowing pilgrims to view and pay homage to them as they journeyed through the land.
