Shower drain screen (1.4in)

Keep your tub drain free from nasty hair clogs with this convenient strainer. It's specifically designed for use in drains with 1.4 inch diameter openings, complete with a step-by-step print guide that includes supports to help it print like a hat. To ensure the best results, you can print it using ABS material and apply a vapor smooth post process for a more sanitary finish. Alternatively, if you're printing with PLA, consider treating this strainer as a disposable item and replacing it after each tub cleaning. Tips for post-printing: use duckbill pliers to carefully punch through the base of the support structure and break free from any remaining connections. How I Designed This Object: I created this design using Fusion 360 software. The process began with a simple stacked circle sketch, which was then offset to create the body and end of the strainer. Next, I used an extrusion cut to create the bottom hole pattern on one side, rotated the sketch by 180 degrees, and repeated the process to create the other side. To drill holes in the sides, I drew a sketch along the center axis of the cylinder, creating three vertical holes. Then, I performed a symmetric extrusion cut to create six evenly spaced holes, three on each opposing side. To achieve this, I rotated the sketch by 22.5 degrees between each cut, which is equivalent to one-sixteenth of a full circle. Note that if you want to use a symmetrical cut for even numbers of holes, it's essential to note that an odd number of holes cannot be achieved through symmetric cutting. Instead, you'll need to adjust your design accordingly or use a different approach to model the strainer accurately.
