Shower Door Ball Catch Replacement

This is a rather intriguing project, and I'm not entirely sure how well it will function or if anyone else will be interested, but here goes:\nMy shower door features a small mechanism that includes a ball which snaps over the shower frame when closing the door. A spring allows it to move back and forth, and an adjustable screw fine-tunes its travel. Unfortunately, the screw became loose and the little carriage with the bearing got dislodged. I couldn't locate a replacement part, so I had to either print one or figure out how to adapt another catch system or replace the entire door. Guess which option I chose?\nI utilized a #10 tap to create threads for the adjustment screw. My original screw was too long, so I also created a small spacer for the opposite side.\nAfter making the threads, I pressed in a 1/4" bearing, but may have miscalculated some measurements because it was extremely difficult to press into the tiny tube thing.\nI printed with a layer height of 0.2mm and 100% infill since it needed to be robust and was quite small.\nNote that there's a notch on the side so that when you adjust it, it moves back and forth instead of just spinning when turning the screw.\nYou could potentially build the rest of the catch mechanism if desired. It requires a spring and a cylinder for this piece to travel in. There needs to be some clearance for the plunger bit (this component) to slide so that it can catch whatever it hits and retract to get free.\nIt doesn't function quite as well as I remember the original functioning, if I were to redo it I might deburr the housing a bit because it's almost hitting before the bearing.\nAs always, if you like our projects, be sure to check out our YouTube channels.
