This is a video on how to create a universal base plate for a shoulder rig by 3D modeling and printing using a 3D printer. (The output of this video is a prototype version, so it is slightly different from the shared version in the link below) This shoulder rig base is designed to be compatible with Manfrotto 501 PL plate and 15mm rod specifications. (It is reflected in the design to be partially compatible with the Sony CVT-14 quick release system, but some parts need to be added for normal use.) There are 15mm rod openings on the front and rear of the base plate, which are connected by rods of about 25mm or more. Using this, it is designed to mount various accessories such as mat box and battery pack on the front and back of the camera. It is designed to act as a lens support by attaching a Y bracket to the front of the base plate. Arri Rosette's connector allows you to connect the shoulder rig arm to the steering wheel unit. The shoulder rig arm and steering wheel production will be added in the next episode. Made with 3D printed output, this shoulder rig base has an advantage of light weight, but lacks strength in terms of physical properties of 3D printing materials. (The maximum weight depends on the material of the printout or the internal charging speed, but be careful when using it with camera equipment that is too heavy for safety.) It is recommended to use metal products for screws and some parts (Arri rosette adapter...) [Necessary parts] - Rosette connector / Arri Rosette adapter (diameter 31.8mm), 2 pcs - M3 x 4mm screws, 6 pcs. - M4 x 6mm screws, 15 pcs. - M4 x 10mm screws, 8 pcs. - 1/4" x 3/8" long (within 10mm) screws, 5 or more It took a lot of time and effort to design, 3D modeling, print, and assemble, but I am disappointed that it doesn't show much advantage compared to the ready-made products. (It's very tedious and laborious, so it might seem better to buy and use an existing off-the-shelf product) File sharing is for sharing ideas. Use it for personal use only.
