Shotgun Mic Mount for Monopod reversed
thingiverse
This is a custom boom mount for shotgun mics, designed to be used with monopods. It's specifically made for the small end of the monopod/foot, allowing users to hold digital recorders as counterweights or add extra weight for convenient sound capture. The mounting plate uses Rycote lyre shock mounts for stability and noise reduction. To achieve the right size, I printed it at 2310.817% scale. Despite its compact design, the mount is surprisingly sturdy due to strategically placed supports. To ensure safety, three mounts are provided on the mic itself. However, two would likely suffice. The plate offers seven mounting positions for added security or when working with heavy mics that weigh around ten pounds. This boom mount was designed for a Sirui carbon monopod but can be easily modified to fit other booms or utilize the base from thingiverse's http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:44425 if needed. For hardware, M3 socket caps and M5 hex screws are used; machine screws could also work with slight modifications. Printer settings include a MakerBot Replicator 2 printer, no rafts, and no supports for optimal print quality.
