This 3D model originates from a digital design crafted using Sketchup 8, after which it was adapted into all other prominent 3D formats. Its native format remains .skp, while the associated 3ds Max scene utilizes the latest features of 3ds Max 2016 and was rendered with Vray 3.00. Located in NOLA, a vibrant city known for its unique architecture, this charming shotgun house boasts a classic layout, earning it the distinctive title that reflects its shape and functionality. Essentially, standing at the entrance allows you to accurately aim and shoot, resulting in the bullet effortlessly traversing through the rear door. This attribute is typical of most shotgun shacks found throughout the Southern United States. Owing to the soft and permeable southern soil, this dwelling sits elevated upon a series of sturdy concrete block piers or foundations. Directly beneath the house lies an accessible crawl space that clearly displays the roof's underlying structure – the rafters. Should you choose to observe the crawl space more closely, the presence of pipes (not modeled) would also become apparent. Notably, were it constructed on a more solid foundation like most other models in this collection, the area beneath the house would appear uniformly black. Surrounded by an ornate wooden skirt is where all this functionality comes alive – 2 intimate bedrooms, one restroom, and an compact kitchen offer all necessary amenities for an idyllic living space. Meanwhile, a modest dining area holds merely enough space to seat 2-3 individuals. And on the adjacent side lies an equally quaint living room. Right near the back of the house is positioned a combined washer/dryer setup alongside a water heater in their compact, adjacent nook. Not depicted within the model, however, are a crucial part of its functional components – the heating and ventilation system nestled discreetly into the ceiling for efficient use and convenience. Above the entire structure exists only an extended attic, essentially just empty space devoid of features or utility but possessing potential for additional storage by virtue of having a hidden access door situated within the rear gable. Alas, there were initially designed steel stairs offering convenient ascent up to this rooftop but had to be unfortunately demolished in the aftermath of Katrina's devastating impact on NOLA. I hope that viewing this digital masterpiece would bring forth a little piece of NOLA and its architectural distinctiveness. Its presence is, after all, felt throughout various locations not just within Louisiana itself, but even beyond Georgia and Mississippi in different regions across the United States known as "The South".
