Short length filament spool
thingiverse
I've printed it and I'm utterly blown away by how incredibly strong it is, extremely impressive really. The design looks like a high-quality V-belt pulley once printed. Those holes for filament are perfectly positioned every time, no surprises there. Unbelievably, this spool requires nothing to snap or glue together like many other filament spool designs often do. Using settings like Spool width 29, Spool diameter 124, Channel depth 20, a hub that's 40mm in diameter and 5m thick, I was able to get great results with PLA using a .3mm nozzle height. This time around, I did have some issues because it didn't hold quite enough filament but I'm planning on bumping up the channel depth or spool width to fit more filament next print out. This customized design was based on the version from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:780038. The spool customizer that was used can be found here, https://customizer.theyeshelabs.com/things/5803_7/ .
