ShopBot Dust Skirt

ShopBot Dust Skirt

To replace a damaged dust skirt on our ShopBot, I developed an alternative design using partworks and included its DXF file for flexibility in CAD/CAM combinations. For fabrication, scrap 3/8" polycarbonate pieces (5" x 12") were utilized, necessitating custom holddown solutions such as an MDF jig and double-sided tape. The process involved routing a 1/4" deep pocket in the MDF for material stability, cutting the main shoe with a small hole for clamping and a large hole for hose connection, and creating three identical skirt/spacer parts with attached vinyl skirts and spacers for longer bits. The design incorporates four 1/4" holes to hold 3/8" x 1/4" magnets, which securely fasten all layers together.
