Shop Light Clip

Shop Light Clip

thingiverse

This is a custom mounting clip for some 8-foot T8 LED shop lights (https://amzn.to/2uEGguR). The metal clips that come with them are unreliable and prone to detachment, resulting in many users experiencing their shop lights falling down unexpectedly. These clips print rapidly and hold securely. They exhibit a slight flexibility when snapping onto the light fixture, but once secured with two screws become extremely rigid and stable. I'm using 2-3 clips per 8-foot light, depending on the stud placement (the lights are remarkably lightweight). The OpenSCAD file is included for users who need to modify it to fit their specific lighting setup or situation. To achieve a clean interface between the clip and the light, I printed them on their side, resulting in a square connection rather than a stringy and messy overhang. I printed these clips using PLA at 0.25 layer height and 40% infill.
