It boasts some very unique mechanics like incorporating captured opponents into your army and piece promotion by flipping the pieces over. However, traditional Go sets can intimidate potential new players since you need to learn the Chinese characters for the pieces along with their moves. \n\n This set solves both problems at once. Each piece has a name and an icon representing their movements. A straight line from the sphere indicates that piece can move or capture one square in that direction. A pointed line from the sphere signifies that piece can move in as many unobstructed spaces as are available in that direction. The general moves similarly to its counterpart in western Chess, except that it can only jump to two spaces forward and one space to the side, not sideways or backwards. Then when you reach the 7th rank flip the piece over to promote it and its new movement is displayed. \n\n\n\n Board not included. \n\n\n\n Setup and rules can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go
