Ram Shofar A shofar (pronounced /ʃoʊˈfɑːr/ from Hebrew: About this sound שׁוֹפָר (help·info) [ʃoˈfaʁ]) is an ancient musical horn typically crafted from a ram's horn, used for significant Jewish religious occasions. Like the modern bugle, the shofar lacks pitch-altering instruments; instead, all pitch control relies on adjusting the player's embouchure. The shofar is blown in synagogue services during Rosh Hashanah and at Yom Kippur's conclusion; it is also sounded every weekday morning in Elul's month leading up to Rosh Hashanah.[1] Shofars come in various sizes and shapes, depending on the selected animal and finish level.
