George Washington's enslaved people obtained buckles and accessories through various means. Most items likely came as gifts from the Washington family, but enslaved individuals could also purchase them using earnings made outside the plantation. A 3D scan was conducted with a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner in George Washington's Mount Vernon archaeology laboratory. The description was provided by Virginia Commonwealth University student Jessica Evans. The Virtual Curation Laboratory gave the digital model courtesy of the Mount Vernon Ladies Association.
