This package encompasses 19 objects for "shodo" or "The Way of Writing." It includes four premium-quality "fude," or brushes, namely a fude hosoji (fine brush), three fude chu (medium thickness brushes) in two medium sizes and one large size. These brushes are exact replicas of those made by the Nara Brush Association in Japan. A fude's companion, a suzuri (ink stone) from the Muromachi Period (1392-1573), is also included. Six sumi (ink sticks) are provided - one unwrapped, one wrapped in gold foil with a label, and four bundled together as typically sold in stores. Two washi (handmade writing paper) pieces are offered: one single grey sheet and another with brown overlaying gray sheets. Additionally, you'll find a sui-teki (porcelain water jug cum paperweight), a cast iron bunchin (grouper fish-shaped paperweight used as a brush rest when holding ink), a red lacquer suzuri bako (box for small objects) inspired by an Edo Period piece worth $1,500 USD. Two bamboo mats are provided - an omomi for drying fresh calligraphy and a smaller square mat to place fude, suzuri, and sumi during painting. A sample of fresh calligraphy called "The Color Of Pine" is included, with the English translation of its text as "The color of pine remains the same through the ages." Lastly, an completed ink sume brush painting on a scroll with blue backing is also part of this set. Each item is a high-resolution model with authentic Japanese textures and comes with PBR materials upon request.
