A shock absorber, also known as a damper, is a mechanical or hydraulic device designed to absorb and dampen the shock impulses generated by the unevenness of the road surface when a vehicle is in motion. Its main purpose is to minimize the effects of vibrations, bumps, and other disturbances transmitted through the vehicle's suspension system.The primary function of a shock absorber is to control the motion of the suspension by dissipating the kinetic energy generated by the up-and-down movement of the vehicle's wheels. When a wheel encounters an obstacle or unevenness on the road, it moves upward, compressing the suspension spring.
