Shiva, also known as Mahadeva ("Great God"), stands as a paramount deity in Hinduism. He holds the position of supreme god within Shaivism, one of the three most influential denominations currently shaping contemporary Hinduism. Shiva is recognized as one of the five primary forms of God in the Smarta tradition and is commonly referred to as "the Destroyer" or "the Transformer" among the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity that encompasses the primary aspects of the divine.
