In 2019, the Maritime Program Netherlands relaunched its annual excavation of a shipwreck on land that was once reclaimed from the Zuiderzee. This allows volunteers and students of maritime archaeology to participate in an excavation and gain hands-on experience in ship archaeology. The remains of this ship were uncovered in 1973 with a drainage ditch, but only partially excavated at that time. The wreck is a late 19th century barge that was used for transporting garbage when it sank, causing severe damage to the wood. Despite its fragile state, the ship contains many artifacts that offer a glimpse into the daily life of a large city during that era. More than 2,000 photos were taken by students over a three-day period, resulting in varying colors due to different lighting conditions. Thomas Van Damme (@Ubi3D) has processed the data obtained from these photos.
