Two weathered timbers from abandoned ships litter the Thames foreshore near the historic Mayflower pub at Rotherhithe, London's vibrant docklands. This once-thriving area was infamous for its ship-breaking industry, where vessels were meticulously dismantled to salvage valuable materials. It was Alan Murphy, a keen Mudlark and respected expert in Thames history, who kindly suggested this fascinating location. As a dedicated member of the community, he also plays an active role in the on-site preservation of these timbers, ensuring their stories are safeguarded for future generations. In February 2020, a Sony a6000 camera captured 573 stunning photos, which were later refined using Reality Capture's advanced processing techniques to bring out the rich details and textures of these ancient wooden relics.
