Ship Timber Rotherhithe
sketchfab
Historic timber from a ship on the Thames foreshore near the Mayflower pub at Rotherhithe, London, is an incredible sight. This area was once heavily used for breaking down old ships. In the 19th century, this location played a crucial role in dismantling vessels that had outlived their useful lives. The timber from these ships would often be salvaged and reused for various purposes. The photos of this historic site were taken by Alan Murphy, an avid photographer and historian who has been instrumental in preserving the timbers on the Thames foreshore. He also plays a vital role in maintaining the area's integrity, ensuring that future generations can appreciate its significance. In January 2020, Alan took 168 high-quality photos of the site using a Sony a6000 camera, which were later processed through Reality Capture to enhance their clarity and detail.
