Meanwhile, our circulatory system is pumping oxygenated blood throughout the body, delivering vital nutrients and removing waste products. Our digestive system breaks down food into essential components, which are then absorbed into the bloodstream for use by the body. The respiratory system takes in oxygen and expels carbon dioxide, allowing us to breathe easily and effortlessly. In addition to these systems, our immune system works to protect us from invading pathogens and disease-causing organisms. Our endocrine system regulates hormones that govern various bodily functions, such as growth and development. And the integumentary system provides a protective barrier against external factors like temperature, moisture, and injury.
