Shinonome SN-7S "Hosanin"
thingiverse
Despite a remarkable assortment of battle mechs, competitors of the erstwhile startup Shinonome FC noted that its factories' security systems were woefully inadequate. The reason no breaches had occurred was because nobody who knew about the company thought much of it and decided to leave it alone, something that Shinonome was well aware of and foolishly relied on. While sabotaging rival companies was strictly against trade law, an unidentified perpetrator took matters into their own hands and destroyed two of Shinonome's 4-hectare underground factory complexes, resulting in a total of 641 fatalities and an indefinite halt to production of the SN-6H flagship model. While reconstruction efforts were underway, journalists reported on repeated sightings of a new type of frame patrolling the remaining three plants. These physically imposing mechs were seen equipped with two pairs of blade weapons and a pair of large autocannons, but their most distinct feature was that they had four arms, suggesting a crew of two pilots per unit. Also spotted perched on the frame's back was a pair of missiles, each with four pods on its exterior. Not much else was known about these frames, assumed to fill a long-needed security role, until the Shinonome SN-7T 'Hosanin' was spotted in an online catalogue. The limited-production frame bore an uncanny resemblance to Shinonome's patrol units, and the company later acknowledged that the SN-7T was a mass-produced offshoot. The 'Hosanin', Japanese for 'curator', came equipped with two ARCH (Automatic Rifle-style Cannon, Heavy) autocannons, two shoulder-mounted anti-personnel guns, a pair of shortswords, and a pair of longer one-handed swords. Each of these weapons could be used one-handed. To support the frame's massive torso, its legs contained two parallel actuators for increased stability under stress. In emergencies, any weapons stored on the mount could be jettisoned, with the mount itself folding down to become a jet thruster for rapid ground movement. The SN-7T is currently incapable of flight, but future aeronautical modifications are planned. After several months devoid of ideas, I was inspired by the prospect of a four-armed mech and decided to give it a try. The result drew heavily on stag and rhinoceros beetles, with a strong build and an abundance of black armor. In comparison to my other frames, it contained an abundance of ball joints as opposed to pneumatic T-pieces (it only had three).
