Shine Super-GT is a 1980 arcade racing game that simulates the popular Lotus 81 Group 5 F1 car and various variants. It was released by Video Technology. Players compete as either Jack Eilbermer in his own supercar, called the 'Supertank' in the American version or Peter McHarg on foot; or against opponents at three levels of difficulty: novice ('beginner'), amateur ('normal') and expert ('difficult'). The goal is to drive as fast as possible through a circuit before reaching checkered flag. Cars must be controlled manually while avoiding hitting walls surrounding tracks that contain speed limit signs showing various amounts such like sixty, ninety etc., giving feedback to player's current time. Points gained by successfully completing all checkpoints determine winning position; losing points deducted from overall score due failing at some part of course without returning correctly into starting point - so called "lateral kill" occurs. The gameplay features six racing stages on real roads (real cities aren't explicitly mentioned though), but only a few named places in total across three categories divided by length type e.g short/middle/long depending location name used when loading screen opens before game starts: first there’s the ‘high-speed racing course,' followed by an urban raceway ("Rush Hour"), finishing off last lap round "oval track." Each course takes several minutes each completing entire session including multiple loops if necessary (which could vary depending player progress level set), although you can adjust time setting through settings menu after finishing regular mode run through choosing shorter or longer variant option; thus changing required distance driven lengthened up shortened down according respective options picked during play session still keeping initial pace goal untouched.
