Shin Hati Lightsaber for 25mm blade
prusaprinters
My simplified version of Shin Hati's lightsaber scaled for a 25 mm (1") blade. The model has an internal compartment for my electronics carrier (https://www.printables.com/model/797013-lightsaber-electronics-carrier) and uses the Adafruit prop maker feather, two neopixel strips (in my version, 100 leds each of 144 leds/m WS2812B), a small speaker and a momentary push button (12 mm diam.). All is driven by a 18650 li-on battery. My blade is made from a 25 mm acrylic tube with a wall thickness of 2 mm, sanded on the outside and filled with ‘diffusing’ material with the led strips back to back in the middle. Getting a good diffusion was the hardest part, in my case a plastic film with frosted look rolled to a tube (2-3 layers) and some bubble wrap to fill the gap… The model is split in more parts than needed for ease if painting & weathering is desired. Some parts will need supports for a good print quality. The parts need to be glued together if you want to be able to swing with it as a complete saber is quite heavy. !! THIS IS NOT A COMBAT BLADE !!Model file in Autodesk Fusion for those who need other dimensions…UPDATE:Added a ‘blade plug’ model for use without blade attached.Added a alternate endcap with openings for a better sound.
