This plug helps maintain alignment when installing or removing cassettes from bikes. Simply place the cassette onto the plug by sliding it into position. To install, slide the cassette off the plug and back onto the bike. I have successfully tested this plug with my 11-speed Shimano XT cassette as well as my road SRAM 11-speed cassette. This plug should work for any 10, 11, or 12 speed Shimano-style hub, regardless of orientation. However, it works best when one of the teeth on the plug is aligned with the narrow slot on the cassette.
