Shim for Gothic Lantern Lid
thingiverse
This is a shim I created to fix the Gothic Lantern designed by Shira, published June 21, 2017. This single extrusion thickness print can be tricky due to its complexity. The attached STL file extends far enough to cover the entire joint in one piece. However, I discovered that only half of the joint requires the shim. To make things easier, I printed one and then cut it in half before using each side separately. Alternatively, you could adjust your Z-axis setting in the slicer to match the desired length of the shim. Simply apply glue while ensuring both shims are on the same side of the lantern, with the non-shimmed ends entering the lid slots first. It's likely that some sanding or trimming will be necessary to achieve a proper fit. During my test prints, one of the lanterns experienced minor shrinkage on the lid, causing the shim to become slightly too tight. Without the shim, however, the lid would have fallen completely off. Good luck with your repair.
