As a novice user of computer-aided design software, mastering the art of shifting parts is an essential skill to develop. In this tutorial, we will focus on the basics of part shifting using SolidWorks 2016, a popular CAD program among designers and engineers. The first step in shifting parts is to create a new assembly file in SolidWorks 2016. To do this, click on the "Assembly" tab located at the top left corner of the screen and select the "New Assembly" option from the dropdown menu. This will open a new window where you can choose the type of assembly you want to create. Once you have selected the type of assembly, SolidWorks 2016 will automatically generate a new part file for you to work with. To shift parts in this file, click on the "Part" tab located at the top left corner of the screen and select the "Shift Part" option from the dropdown menu. When the Shift Part tool is selected, SolidWorks 2016 will display a dialog box asking you to select the part you want to shift. Simply choose the part you want to move by clicking on it with your mouse. The part will then be highlighted in blue, indicating that it has been selected for shifting. Next, click on the "Shift" button located at the bottom left corner of the screen to initiate the shifting process. SolidWorks 2016 will then prompt you to enter a new location for the shifted part. Simply type in the new coordinates or select a reference point from the assembly tree to define the new position of the part. Finally, click on the "OK" button to apply the changes and view the shifted part in its new location. And that's it! You have successfully shifted a part using SolidWorks 2016.
