Shift knob die

Shift knob die

Initially, I required a new shift knob, so I printed one with high infill for durability. However, the size was too large, making it difficult to resize using edge references. To fix this issue, I enlarged the mounting hole and reduced the print size. The result was satisfactory, despite concerns about summer heat in SoCal. After 2.5 years, no problems have occurred; however, the knob has discolored, and acetone vapor smoothing has caused crazing, giving it an antiqued appearance which suits my '61 pickup truck well. For optimal strength, print at 50% infill or higher and size it at 75% of the original design. Additionally, I applied a drop of black nail polish in each indentation to enhance the pips' visibility.
