The Royal Armoury in Stockholm proudly showcases a stunning suit of parade armor belonging to Eric XIV. This majestic full-body armor, delivered to the king in 1562, weighs an impressive 20.6 kilograms and stands approximately 170 centimeters tall. The surface is meticulously covered with intricate relief decorations that bring scenes of battle, prisoners, shields, and weapons to life. Alongside these depictions, figures from Gothic, Roman, and Greek mythology are showcased alongside ornamental plants and flowers. Notably, symbols of the Swedish kingdom are also featured throughout the armor. The exceptional craftsmanship involved in creating this masterpiece is a testament to the collaborative efforts of many skilled artisans. Goldsmith Eliseus Libaerts took the lead in crafting the relief decorations that adorn the armor. This regal suit of parade armor has a rich history, as it was worn by Eric XIV during his triumphant entry into Stockholm on October 22, 1564, following his victory over Denmark.
