We're all thinking about how we can help while the pandemic gets worse every day. Even though we're not on the front lines, there are still things we can do to support our community members who keep us going. They're working hard, sometimes scared, often overwhelmed but always focused on their job. Like us, they can get hit by the virus and run out of personal protection equipment. We should all work together to protect those who serve us. Our healthcare workers, nurses, doctors, EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, police officers, grocery cashiers, mail carriers, and delivery workers are our everyday heroes. They need a Shield of Heroes. Based on the design by Matt from PrusaPrinters, Shield of Heroes is an optimized face shield that's easy to build using a standard A4 hole puncher or 838 (2 holes) puncher. The US Letter version uses three 5/16" holes spaced 4 1/4" apart. It only requires 12g of filament and prints in 35 minutes with a 0.4mm nozzle. You can fit eight on a CR10 buildplate or five on an Ender 3 buildplate, all with a top cover. I printed five with a 0.6 nozzle on an Ender 3 in just over one hour, less than 21 minutes each including printer heating time. The US Letter format is still a work in progress since I don't have a hole puncher of that size myself. Versions include Shield of Heroes thin rubber band v1 and Shield of Heroes strap v1, which requires two adjustable strap buckles and a strap up to 45cm long and 10mm wide.
