Sherford Early Bronze Age knife
sketchfab
The fragments of a unique copper-alloy knife surfaced during an excavation at Sherford, Plymouth (Devon). The blade was unearthed inside an Early Bronze Age food vessel buried beneath a limestone mortuary structure, and it was linked to the cremated remains of a middle-aged male. On bone pieces retrieved from the pot near the waist area, green 'spot' discoloration indicated that the knife had been worn on the hip before cremation occurred. Despite the absence of any handle remnants, two rivets were discovered. This reconstruction illustrates what the knife likely resembled during the Early Bronze Age era.
