Shelving Safety Clips/Latches

While these adjustable shelving units are cheap and quick to assemble, the shelves are only stopped from being knocked out (up) by a bit of friction. These safety clips stop the shelves being pushed up-and-out when somebody tries to lift the unit or bumps a shelf from below.

For use with adjustable shelving units (or equivalent) from Bunnings I/N 2760459
There are three versions and each version comes in two sizes (A-small with round hole, and B-bigger with five-sided hole so you can tell them apart):
- A small rotating one which is retained by clipping over the stud that holds the shelf in place; this is very compact and only uses one vertical slot. Please note the force is not taken by the small hook, that's just retaining the part, but the big round boss. - A bigger clip which is a bit easier and more robust to handle, but uses two vertical slots. Forces are taken by the big boss, not the little tang or stud. These two clips perform the same job and are interchangeable, the next part however...: - A span, which goes across the join in the middle of the tall uprights. These are strong enough to stop a shelf getting bumped out, but I would not rely on lifting a packed unit with them. "A" is for the big keyholes with the corner pin in the uprights. "B" is the smaller version, with the bracket holding the two uprights together.

Ensure the shelves are fully seated (use a mallet) before installing the clips. Sometimes there are small powder coating spurs in the key-holes which need to be filed off before the latch will clip in place. If you're worried about the top shelf, space it down one keyhole so you can use the roto clip.

If you've got these shelves you might be interested in this thing: Shelving Rod Bracket.

You must install either of the first two safety clips if you're using this thing: Adjustable Foot Adapter for Shelving Unit.

Check out more designs from Department_Nine!
