Shelving Bracket Headphone Stand
thingiverse
This is a customizable headphone stand that attaches to the post of a wire shelving unit. It has a lip to keep the headphones from sliding off, ensuring they remain securely in place. The stand is attached to the post with a pair of brackets that are closed on one end using a small locking clip and the headphone w/standoff attaches to the other side. A slight bump inside the clips helps prevent them from sliding down the pole. The stand rotates easily around the pole, and the bump keeps the clip from sliding down but since the bump only fits into the grooves a bit it is possible to move the bracket up and down without too much force. There are many parameters you can adjust, but likely you will only need to adjust the following: rest_length = 50; // Width of headband rest (Orange), standoff_length = 30; // Length of standoff (Cyan). The model is color coded in OpenSCAD for ease of use, but the color doesn't matter when printing. The rest_length should be as wide as your headphone headband (plus a tiny bit more) and the standoff_length should be the distance the closest headband is to the pole without the ear cups banging into the pole. If I ever make changes to the model, here are some things I would like to improve: 1. The rail that keeps the headphones from sliding off is sufficient but making them a bit taller would make it less likely to have the headphones move if they are bumped. 2. The clips work okay but they have a tendency to rotate because they are cylindrical and they are going around the two clips which are also cylindrical and they have a tendency to fall off if you bump the stand (although the stand generally stays put). I would change them to have flat sides to help the clip from rotating. 3. I'd also like to design an integrated cable and/or plug management into the bracket. There are STL files for the following headphones: * AKG 701 Quincy Jones Signature Series (Lime Green), * AKG K240 Studio, * Sony MDR-7505, * Sony MDR-ZX110, * Sony V6, * Sony V150. For general headphones, I'd recommend the Sony MDR-7505. For portable headphones I'd recommend the Sony V150. For really large headbands I'd recommend the AKG K240.
