Columella shell ear pin found at the Nununyi mound site in Swain County, North Carolina. This ancient artifact is dated to the Mississippian period, likely during the Qualla phase (AD 1400-1700). The ear pin is crafted from marine shell and measures 140 mm in length, 24 mm in width, and 20.4 mm in thickness. It is cataloged as no. 2157a22, specimen 3, within the North Carolina Archaeological Collection housed at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
