Shell beads were unearthed at Coweeta Creek site (31Ma34), situated in Macon County, North Carolina. The findings date back to the Mississippian period's Qualla phase, spanning from AD 1400-1700. These shell artifacts are crafted from marine shell materials. Unfortunately, no specific dimensions are provided for these beads. Interestingly, catalog number 2233a3117 has been assigned to these relics. Following repatriation to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in 2014, detailed analysis became possible through Abigail Gancz's model. This digital representation was derived from a computerized tomography (CT) scan conducted at UNC Hospitals before the objects were returned to their rightful owners. The textured surface of the model is merely an approximation, based on digital photographs taken in 1994 that only partially reflect the actual texture of the shell beads.
