Shelf support for bookshelves with 5mm holes
thingiverse
I created this product to replace broken or missing shelf supports for bookshelves, making it easier to set up a sturdy bookcase. The design includes small plastic spigots that fit neatly into standard 5mm holes on the side of a bookcase. To improve printing quality, the spigot is intentionally designed as an octagon instead of a circle, allowing it to have some flexibility when inserted into tight spaces. A handy tab at the end of each spigot allows for easy removal with pliers, making maintenance and adjustments straightforward. You may need to fine-tune the size of the spigots in the OpenScad module to ensure they fit snugly into 5mm holes on your specific printer. Since these small parts are tricky to print, I recommend producing at least four of them at once to allow each layer to cool properly before printing the next one.
