My wife brought to my attention that the shelf was a floating shelf and requested me to create something that would keep it securely in place. To test the holding power, I added some rubber as an experiment to see how well it would fasten. Once I screwed them firmly into position, I could observe the rubber compressing slightly, offering resistance.
